Clean Cities: What “Green Initiatives” Really Matter?

Today, more than half of the world's population lives in cities, according to the Earth Day Network. As our urban population continues to grow, we need to adapt to create cleaner, healthier and more economically viable cities. But what makes a city“green” and what measures can cities implement today to ensure they are contributing to the overall betterment of our environment? This session will outline examples of today’s green city initiatives that are making an impact, including what existing cities are doing today, a look at the possibilities of the future, as well as how citizens can get involved in their local communities. The panel will answer these questions, and more:

  1. What makes a city “green”?
  2. What are some examples of what cities are doing today?
  3. What technologies exist today that contribute to a cleaner, healthier, more economically viable city?
  4. What technologies will make an impact on our future?
  5. How can citizens get involved?
  6. What are steps we can take in our individual communities to instill change?
